Certified Professional In Exercise Nutrition

Jill Gottlieb

The study and practice of exercise and nutrition had been an integral part of my life for more than 25 years. Then I did what many of us do, after a career in business, I turned my passion into my profession. In 2007 I became a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with the prestigious National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). After four years training clients in local gyms, I opened my own private training studio in 2011.  Today, I provide in-home fitness training for select clients in Grass Valley, and Nevada City, CA, and online ProCoach nutrition coaching for women who want to change their relationship with food.

My fitness clients often ask nutrition-based questions, as food, and exercise are both integral to good health. I'm often asked what to eat, not to eat, how to lose weight, what do I think about this diet and that. So when I decided to add nutrition certification to my personal training regimen, I went to the leader in exercise nutrition education, Precision Nutrition®. After serious, in-depth study, I graduated a PN Level 1 Certified Coach, and I'm currently working on my Level 2 certification, considered an advanced degree in exercise nutrition.

After years of working with women in a 'gym' setting, and talking to them about their relationship with food, diets, eating, body image, etc. I've grown to understand their powerful and complex emotional bond with food.  A long-term habit-based approach, versus fad diets, is the best way to make lasting change in how we eat, how much we weigh, and how we look, and feel.

  • "I have been working with Coach Jill and ProCoach since December 2017 and it has been an impressive process. I enjoy working each week on changing one small eating habit. The daily PN online coaching lessons keeps my intentions on the front burner. And bi-weekly FaceTime with Jill helps me focus on my successes and come up with strategies to address the obstacles.
My primary focus was to make healthier food choices and to reduce my lack of control around sugar. After 3 months I am happy to report that I am eating slower, making much better food choices and most important not bingeing on sugar products. I am shocked that I can often pass up dessert with no sense of being deprived. And when I do have dessert, appreciate each bite.
Although weight loss was not my primary goal, I have lost 4 pounds. That is not a lot for three months but I am confident that slow loss through the rest year will meet my weight loss goal.
Jill is patient, kind and supportive. I often get email encouragement in response to my daily lessons. And she comes up with great strategies during our FaceTime sessions.
I would recommend ProCoach for anyone that has been struggling with eating mindfully. I have tried a lot of weight loss programs with some success but eventually return to old habits. This program gets underneath these old eating habits, replacing them with new ones that I expect will eventually become as easy as brushing my teeth each morning." Donna H.

  • "Jill works miracles!! I first visited her with back pain that limited  even walking.  She helped me develop core strength and stamina and I can  now walk all over San Miguel and even resumed playing golf. Jill's  special talent is tailoring a fitness program around each client's  situation to avoid injuries and maximize progress.   You still have to  do the work, but she is a great coach and guide and makes her workouts  fun.  Highest recommendation!!"

  • "I came to Jill in April of 2014, after an extended time of no exercise  due to a number of injuries. She has shown immense patience working  around a recovering ankle, and past cervical fusion to start to give my  body back to me. With an initial goal of losing 8 pounds, we have  surpassed that by 4 pounds, and I'm looking forward to dropping a few  more this winter. But most importantly we have a great time as I  continue to gain strength and be healthier!"
     Hope B.

  • "You (Jill) have become virtually indispensable. The  increased levels of strength, stamina and overall fitness I am attaining  are critical to me at this stage so I can continue to enjoy my very  active life going forward. On top of that is the enjoyable repartee  which makes the workouts almost enjoyable.""
